Usually you need to renew your domain name every so often in order to be able to continue to legally use it. Domain name registration helps make sure that everyone is able to use their unique names without the fear of someone stealing them.
The question that some people have is whether or not it is possible to purchase domain names without having to renew them. Indeed it is possible in some ways. Sometimes domain names can be registered for a lifetime. Domains can also be registered by the year, two years, and so forth. Deciding On Renewal Length You may decide to just renew your website for one year if you have not completed it yet or if it is not yet published. You also may decide to register new domain names for only one year at a time as well. The more confidence you gain in your ability to generate revenue from a domain name the better off you would be by not losing the rights to that name. Usually after the first year of using a particular domain name it is a good idea to register that name for at least two years at a time or even longer. At some point you may decide that you do not want to fool around any more, and your company is making quite a bit of revenue. This may be the point when you would decide on a permanent or lifetime domain registration. Domain Name Renewal Prices Usually it is fairly inexpensive to renew most domain names. Most domains cost less than $10.00 a year. Some even cost less than $5.00 a year. It is important, however, for you to realize that some discount domain name promotions only last for one year. After that, you may be required to pay regular price. Usually you only need to be concerned about the domain names that cost between .99 cents and $1.99 for the first year. These are the ones that usually will cost the regular price when come time to renew them. It is important for you to be sure you can afford these renewal prices every single year. Sometimes you can find cheap ways to renew domain names, such as renewing them in clusters or bulk. You also are usually awarded a deal on similar domain names offered for different level domains, such as .com, .biz, or .into names. How To Know When To Renew If you own quite a bit of domain names usually you will receive notices when it is time to renew those domain names. A notice to renew domain names is usually sent to your e-mail address. You also may have the option of downloading some type of domain tracking system if you own huge numbers of website names and parked domains. |
