A sub domain is an add-on to a site. The purpose of sub domains are to separate that particular page from the rest of a website.
A sub domain page would usually not be listed among the pages of the principle sites’ navigation bar (site page links), but a sub domain directory page may possibly be included on a site navigation page. Often sub domain pages are used for creating directories. A blog is a type of sub domain. It is a separate entity from the regular website that is accessed from that website. It provided information that is totally separate from the principle website. The content of a sub domain may be directly related to the content of a website domain. However, this is not always the case. In some cases the content of a sub domain is not the same as the regular website. For instance, a website could touch on depression issues and then have a separate sub domain that discusses just medications. Sub domains can be added to a website in a number of ways. The most common way to add sub domain pages and sub domain blogs is to follow the directions given by the web site hosting company. Usually the principle website to which sub domains are added would be accessed in the web hosting control panel. This is the place where you make all the necessary changes that you need to make pertaining to your website. There is another way to add sub domains, or at least content to your sub domain pages. You can upload them using what is called an FTP client. This particular program would be downloaded onto your computer. |
